Word and puzzle games you play against friends in Messages

How to play

• In any conversation in Messages, tap + and choose Word Duel.
• Pick a game and tap Start puzzle. The clock starts when you do.
• When you finish, your result drops into the text field. Tap send.
• Friends tap the bubble to play the exact same puzzle. The bubble keeps score and crowns the leader. It works in group chats too.

The games

• Classic: guess the five-letter word in 6 tries.
• Blindfold: 8 tries, but each guess only tells you how many letters are green, yellow and red.
• Ladder: change one letter at a time to reach the target word, in as few moves as you can.
• Path: drag from 1 through every square, hitting the numbers in order.

Common questions

My friend can't open the game. Everyone in the match needs Word Duel installed. On Android, friends can play with the Word Duel extension for OpenBubbles.

Can I play on a Mac? No. Apple doesn't let iMessage games run in Messages on a Mac.

Where's my name? Set it with Playing as in the game picker.
